Personal Beauty & Wellness (PBW) is New York-based tech firm founded by husband and wife team, Andre and Emira Wouansi.
Andre Wouansi is a veteran entrepreneur with a track record of starting and running successful IT companies in the United Kingdom, the United States and Asia. Emira has more than a decade of experience in the beauty and cosmetic industry; she has worked with leading brands in New York City such as Lancôme and Prescriptives. It was her insights about working in the beauty industry and her expertise that helped to guide the development of the original PBW platform.
In 2016, PBW was released as a booking app that allowed customers in the New York area to easily search, find, connect with, and book appointments with local pre-screened experts in the beauty and wellness industry. The community included independent service providers who could go to the homes of their clients as well as professionals from “brick-and-mortar” shops that received clients onsite.
Soon after the app’s release, hundreds of beauty professionals rushed to download and create PBW profiles, and use spread quickly into all five of New York’s iconic burroughs.
In 2018, PBW stakeholders made the bold decision to expand the functionality of the PBW platform to allow its community of beauty and wellness professionals to build and host free and low-cost professional websites. Within the PBW platform, users still have the ability to search for service providers by name, social media handle, or by specific services. In addition to selecting a service provider, users can visit the provider’s website to see style portfolios, book appointments and pay for services all from within the PBW app.
PBW is the first and the only company within the beauty and wellness industry specifically created to build and host business websites for beauty professionals worldwide. Makeup artists, spa owners, fitness instructors, salon owners, and wellness coaches can join the platform, then choose their website template and build a basic website for free.
PBW’s current list of tools includes marketing templates, 24/7 online scheduling and appointment booking for customers, staff management, recurring booking, waitlist, product listing, inventory management, services and products tracking, revenue and sales reports, clients reports, product analysis, and more.
The PBW team fully expects beauty professionals will have everything they need to run a small or mid-sized business right from the PBW dashboard.
The new PBW platform will be released in September 2018.
